I’m Alex Smith, and I do AI consulting for small businesses in Chester County. I run spktr from Phoenixville, I’m a member of the Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry, and most of my in-person work happens inside the county line.

Getting around the county
Malvern and Exton are about 20 minutes from my door, on the Route 202 and Route 30 corridors where many of the county’s offices and business parks sit. West Chester and Downingtown are closer to half an hour. Kennett Square and Coatesville are a longer drive, around 45 minutes, and I make it when there is a reason to be in the room.
The reason is usually the first visit. An hour watching how a quote gets made tells me more than a call does. After that most of the building is remote.
The businesses here
The county’s employers are a mixed group, and the repetitive work looks different in each. A contractor spends evenings on bids and change orders. A specialty manufacturer near Coatesville or Exton keys the same order into three systems. The mushroom growers and packers around Kennett Square run on daily orders, shift schedules and food-safety records. The life sciences companies in Malvern and Exton have IT departments of their own, and the small suppliers, labs and professional practices that serve them usually have none.

Construction is a good example of where AI saves hours in a business this size: comparing incoming quotes line by line, pulling the clauses that matter out of a 200-page spec, and turning jobsite photos and notes into a daily report. What I have built in the county
A Chester County manufacturer takes custom orders that begin with a customer’s logo. Getting that logo into a file the production machines could use took someone two to three hours by hand. I built a tool that does it in about five seconds and sends the customer a 3D mockup to approve from a link.
In Phoenixville I built a grant research tool for a nonprofit whose grant work ran on one deadline spreadsheet. It matches funders to the organization’s programs and drafts letters from its own past applications. It found 201 funders and shortlisted 67. Both were custom tools, and the services page lists the smaller jobs I take on too.

The assessment costs $500: up to half a day watching how the work runs, on site or over video, then within a week a written map of the workflows worth automating, ranked, with what each would take. The $500 is credited in full toward a first project signed within 30 days. A first project is a fixed price from $10,000, for one workflow with a named result and a finish date. After that, ongoing work starts at $5,000 a month: a two-month first term, then month to month. Nonprofits and public offices get fixed-fee projects in place of ongoing monthly work.
Do you come on site in West Chester, Malvern or Exton?
Yes. Malvern and Exton are about 20 minutes from Phoenixville and West Chester is about 30, so an hour at your office or shop is easy to arrange. I also drive to Downingtown, Coatesville and Kennett Square. After the first visit most of the building is remote.
